Unloaded wheels, especially on the diagonal side of a bogie, can significantly decrease the capacity of the bogie to safely run on twisted tracks, increasing derailment risk.<\/p>\n Correct balancing of rolling stock is, in fact, an essential requirement for running safety, as also reported in Directives (EU) 2016\/797 <\/a>(on the interoperability of the railway system) 2016\/798<\/a> (on railway safety) and in Regulation (EU) No. 1302\/2014<\/a> (Technical specification for interoperability relating to the \u2018’rolling stock \u2014 locomotives and passenger rolling stock’\u2019 subsystem – TSI LOC & PAS<\/strong>). The balancing of the rolling stock must therefore be guaranteed during the entire useful life of the rolling stock.
