The definition of maintenance in the UNI EN\u00a013306: 2018\u00a0standard is:<\/p>\n

\u201ccombination of all technical, administrative and managerial actions during the life cycle of an item intended to retain it in, or restore it to, a state in which it can perform the required function\u2019\u2019<\/i><\/p>\n

Therefore, the goal of maintenance is to ensure that the rolling stock, during use, maintains compliance with its project requirements.<\/p>\n

A very important design requirement is to keep the\u00a0distribution of vertical forces<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0exerted by each wheel on the rail within the limits imposed by the\u00a0regulations<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Several investigations after derailments<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0have highlighted the correlation of these episodes with conditions of uneven load distribution.<\/p>\n

When and how should load measurements<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>be performed\u00a0to accurately monitor the correct distribution<\/a><\/strong>?<\/p>\n

There are several ways to carry out effective\u00a0rolling stock maintenance<\/a><\/strong>. Currently this aspect is carried out exclusively in a\u00a0scheduled or periodic manner<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Is it conceivable and advantageous to envisage\u00a0on condition and predictive maintenance<\/strong><\/a>?<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
