L&#8217;accident implique un wagon de fret qui, circulant sur un embranchement normalement pr\u00e9vu sur son parcours, voit l&#8217;un de ses wagons vides \u00e0 deux essieux d\u00e9railler.<\/p>\n<p>Suite aux investigations men\u00e9es par la <strong>RAIB<\/strong> (Rail Accident Investigation Branch), la conjonction de deux facteurs principaux a \u00e9t\u00e9 identifi\u00e9e comme \u00e9tant \u00e0 l&#8217;origine du d\u00e9raillement :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Un gauche de voie \u00e9tant particuli\u00e8rement prononc\u00e9<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De la charge \u00e0 la roue avant gauche insuffisante pour emp\u00eacher le d\u00e9raillement<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Le deuxi\u00e8me facteur a \u00e9t\u00e9 ensuite v\u00e9rifi\u00e9 : il \u00e9tait la cons\u00e9quence directe d&#8217;un important d\u00e9s\u00e9quilibre de charge entre les roues sur les deux diagonales du wagon \u00e0 essieux.
